Who you with !? Biden or Bernie ?

Biden and Bernie have been in the media's main eye lately due to the SC Primary election. These two might just be neck in neck not because they are both OG's in the politic game, but they've been catering to the African American community. Biden took the lead reportedly winning over 60% of the African American voters. Biden has really kicked it up a notch. Even travels with an African American team in which allows him to become relatable. Biden took the cake being named the most popular vote made by African Americans in Nevada. Make no mistake though ! Bernie is right behind him who we know for being one of our favorite American politicians. Sanders is reaching the African American community in a personal way walking the streets with our people. Even has African American supporters going door to door rallying others to side with Bernie. A North Charleston informant explained, "Bernie is the one who is actually going to make a change. He's genuine and we need hi...

Allow me to reintroduce myself !

The SC Primary is what's big in politics huh ? Welp that may be right because on the 29th they need everyone to get out and vote. Picking between different candidates to put them in seat for the state.  What you don't know is none of these candidates rarely speak about the community. The community that struggles or is losing dreams, what about them ? They rally you up only when they need you for their own support. Making us feel important in the moment but in reality they'll win us over and never look back.  These primary's should be focused on what we can do as a community, how to fix up the community, letting kids know that they are important. Not worried about who to vote for and who's winning who over. Politics really have been fooling people lately making us believe that its important to support them, but they don't support us. Ask yourself ? Who's the candidate walking the streets of our local cities meeting the people.

Barbara Hamm Lee

Barbara Hamm Lee is an executive producer and host of popular podcast AnotherView. Mrs. Lee graced SC State students with her wisdom and tips on how to be successful. She also interacted with the students through webcam allowing students to ask questions. Mrs. Lee talked about being a producer and journalist giving the ins and outs of how to get a great story. She discussed how she started small and ended up making it big time. Mrs. Barbara stated, "Even if its a small town with a small job take it - its better to get your feet wet then have no experience at all." The students enjoyed Mrs. Lee asking her questions about her background and how she made it to be successful. Lee was very humble treating the students like they were right there with her, gracing them with smiles as she spoke. School is coming to an end for some of the students and Mrs. Lee gave her advice when it comes to school as well. She explained, "My major at Bennet College was special education u...

Anything SHE can do can HE do better ?

North Charleston-- Do you just enjoy being around kids? wanting to work and help guide them through life. Welp! it's not going to happen if you're a man.  Recently in North Charleston two men were fired from their jobs due to the fact they were men. Shawn Beeble, 25 is the first victim to experience this unfortunate tragedy. Working at the Sunshine House Daycare Beeble truly connected with the students. Meanwhile, a fellow employee started a rumor causing Beeble to lose his job. When questioned management he was told, "You are not fired, but put on leave" and was never asked to return.  Mike Sawner, 27 was a teacher for Pre-K students at Minnie Hughe's Elementary in Hollywood, SC. Sawner kept his life private, but began to talk to fellow colleagues. Ending in Sawner being fired as well, being told that their were concerns with how he handles the kids.  Almost 77% to 80% of the Daycare workers in the US are women. While men fill up that little 20 - 22%...

Kicking the Bulldogs Out the Cage !

Kicking the Bulldog Out the Cage Orangeburg, SC – South Carolina State University might be on their way to expansion. As we all know living on campus gives you the full college experience. What if campus was packed to capacity and no more housing was available? It used to be that students with this issue would move into school housing off campus. Which one option would’ve been Campus Corner- an apartment building occupied with half SC State students and the other half Claflin students. The apartment offered its own kitchen and living room area with a bedroom that led to a co-share bathroom. Campus Corner plummeted when it came to local reviews. Whether it be the constant harassment about rent money or the unsafe feeling due to roaming locals. Claflin University decided to rent Campus Corner for a semester moving all their girl students in but sending SC State students packing. When news broke a source who wishes to remain anonymous stated, “It’s because the studen...

JJ's Introduction !

Allow me to reintroduce myself ! My name is JJ Brown well that's what I like to go by I am a student here at South Carolina State University. Originally born in North Charleston a true 843 native. I am currently finishing up my junior year majoring in journalism. In the future when I do receive my degree I plan on writing for a media coverage company, but also getting into the world of radio. One interesting about me is that I also want to do stand up comedy. The entertainment of making other people laugh is something me and my people do on the daily. So sometimes we'll do a little stand up here and there. Also being from the south I'm a big food guy! I love to eat which is weird because I'm a picky eater, but if its chicken or cornbread you know an everyday thing you cant go wrong with that. The reason I chose to take up journalism is a funny story , previously I wanted to go into the medical field. Not doing so well in the biology classes, but making straight A...
